This summer in Austin, ten undergraduates majoring in science and engineering will be immersed in training at The University of Texas to be the next generation of game changers to meet grand challenges such as climate modeling, weather forecasting, drug delivery, brain mapping, energy exploration and understanding the human genome. Orders of magnitude increase in compute power, advances in modeling complex systems on these computers, and sophisticated improvements in manipulating and visualizing large data sets generated by these models has made computation indispensable alongside theory and experimentation in advancing science and technology and tackling grand challenges."
